congruence

The degree of agreement in the way you perceive yourself, the way you would like to be and the way you really are. A bit deep, but was thinking about this as I walked along the river with the boys this afternoon.  I can see now when incongruence can cause conflict with oneself.

Self awareness, that old chestnut.

Yes Jill, the self awareness trip is a hard one.
I think its all about working on developing the wisdom to help one to 'become your own therapist'(a title I borrowed from a booklet by the wonderful Lama Yeshe)..Who is this 'I'? I sit on my cushion, take a deep breath and... get ready for the struggle in this 'monkey mind' of mine!
Great post Jill.

I was saying this to my children the other day, hang out with the people who you want to be like, strive to be better people every day (if only tidying your bedroom)!! Love Posie

Hi Jill,
Is wisdom developed or does it grow slowly of it's own accord? Our self perception as opposed to how we really are. My goodness Jill, lots to think about.

LOVE this post! We are most definitely in charge of the way we think, I think the key is being able to focus on that and not get distracted by what we see around us! Am your newest follower. Popped over from Alice Becomes.... x
