far from the madding crowd
This week marks the end of daylight savings here in NSW. The morning was quite chilly but the afternoon was glorious. After my morning session in the Practice and when the baby awoke we bundled all the gang into the car and headed out west to the escarpment of the Southern Highlands. Through a dirt track, old dairy country, and through numerous gates where you need to get out of the car, hold open and then close behind you, we ended up at this old abandoned slab hut. Views across Wollondilly Valley to Kanangra Walls of the Blue Mountains. Perfect place for a picnic. Now there are beef cattle roaming around. Lots of wet steaming cow pats to watch out for. But thankfully this time of the year, no flies. Imagine what it would have been like living there 100 years ago? A beautiful and calming way to end the week. I hope you had a lovely end too.
Linking in with Maxabella for more happiness and notes of gratitude.
Post script 18th June 2011:
I awoke and thought about this trip this morning. It is so cold here now and I remember sitting in the warm afternoon glow feeling so peaceful. Hence rewinding at the fibro today as it is a bit of a love post. There are lots of other interesting memories there too.
