up early

Actually I think I have been awake since 4 am.  I have been up pottering around now since 5.  Made a pot of tea (trying not to add sugar now) and had Berrima baked bread toasted and Che has slept into now. 5.55am. I have never managed to do this, since he has been born.

Some chrissy decorations are up.  Now just got to make the birthday cake for this weekend.  My inspiration is from here.  Any tips?  Should I do the packet butter cake thing or make some very healthy concoction like pear and chocolate cake made with spelt flour and rice flour.  Making the cake tomorrow as working today.  And hope to put it together early morning Sunday.

Have a good day everyone.

Must be something in the air Jill as I was awake at 4:00 this morning too.

You used your time much more effectively than I did and I absolutely adore your Christmas decorating.

Hoping that your weekend ahead is glorious!

Your Christmas decorations are stunning. Birthday cake wise I would do the packet cake if you need to cut it into funny shapes as it makes a really dense cake that is easy to cut. I would also partially freeze the cake before cutting it into a shape and use a serrated knife. If you a making a normal cake with no shaping required just make whatever you all like to eat...

I hope you have a fantastic weekend. I am working today and then we are all off to the sparkling extravaganza that is Farmboy's school Christmas concert.

Just gorgeous! So many little whimsical touches. I especially love those paper decorations. All out of the way of curious little fingers too ;)

There is something special about the early hours of the day..I either feel very practical or very daydreamy at that hour of the morning! I'm admiring your handsome paper birds..I love their intricacy and fragility. Why not aim for something in between..cake wise..homemade, yummy, good ingredients, natural tasting but not super healthy..just good and home made.
